Review of Koldfronts Portable Countertop Ice Maker

Koldfronts portable countertop ice maker isn't the prettiest ice maker out there - it just looks like a white box. But what it doesn't earn through its looks, it makes up for in quality and great price. Because it is a countertop machine, you don't need to worry too much about plumbing it in. If you do want to fit it into your kitchen, I advise talking to your plumber or kitchen fitter before you purchase it.

This is one of the faster machines I've seen; it can produce ice in under 10 minutes.

The controls are simple to use, but you will probably need to read the manual before trying things out. Yeah, I know it's a chore, but there you are. Also, I generally suggest cleaning the inside before the first time you use it. You can do this by diluting 1 part of distilled white vinegar, with 4 parts water. Run the mixture though the machine.

Cleaning the machine will prevent any unpleasant taste from dirt / new plastic.

It produces a reasonable amount of ice a day, although not as much as the Lello.

I liked the way it produced three different sizes of ice cubes. Yeah, I admit, it's not a feature I use that often. I generally just set it to medium. But, some people prefer one size or another.

The real benefit to this machine is that it is so portable you can use it in RVs or when you are sailing really easily.

I found the machine quite reliable, and liked the way that there were no problems with it over the period I tested it.

The biggest downside to the machine is that you have to be careful if the power goes off, because it has an awful lot of water in it. If you don't set up the drain properly it could leak all over the place. Also, a lot of people on Amazon say it is exactly the same as the Emerson, Since I haven't been able to obtain an Emerson Ice Maker, I can't confirm if this is the case or not.

If it is the case, it is obviously worth checking if there are any good deals on the Emerson Ice Maker, before investing your money.

Now, I admit, I preferred the quantity of ice that the cello compact ice maker produced, but on the other hand this is very portable. You could take it camping, use it in a car, and even if it is just going to be used in your kitchen it will not take up a huge amount of space.
